Exploring Scotland: Isle of Arran

I genuinely cannot believe it's been so long since I've written a blog post, I definitely got caught up in my BookTube channel and studying. I've completed my Master's degree now and at the moment I am on a break from YouTube (I took time off to write my dissertation) and I really wanted to share these photos I took when I visited Arran back in July. 

We drove from Glasgow (I actually managed to drive us partway there) to the Ardrossan Ferry Terminal and got the ferry to Arran for about 11am. We had no real plans other than to just wander around and sometimes have no plans is just my favourite way to explore places. We ended up driving to Blackwaterfoot which is a village in Arran. It was so lovely to be so close to the sea, I know the last time I was near a sea before that was in Italy when I was visiting my friend in Latina. It was a pretty mild day when we went, it was raining in the morning but tapered off to a drizzle and then nothing in the afternoon. 

We then decided to go and see the Machrie Moor Standing Stones had no idea about it prior to coming here but it seemed like a nice bit of history to go and see. On our way to the car park, there were just too many lovely moments so I captured a few of them. 

Once we reached the car park it was time for a lil walk before we got to the stones, this walk also included some picturesque views so I couldn't resist snapping away some more. 

I must admit I know nothing about the stones but Historic Environment Scotland details the history of the stones. There was only a handful of people here so it was lovely to wander about and read about the history of the location.

We then decided to just drive for a bit and find a place to sit down and have our lunch with a sea view! It was way too cold for me to sit outside, so we ate in the car and went down to the sea for a bit. 

We ended the day by visiting Lochranza for a quick 15mins before heading back to get our ferry around 4pm! 

This was a lovely day out and aside from going to get a coffee and tea (we brought our own sandwiches and snacks) we didn't actually go indoors, so we rarely encountered any people and when we did it was all in the open air, socially distanced and people were super friendly. This was back in July so tourism may have picked up a bit, however with the cold weather coming into Scotland you may still find there are not many people about.
