10 things I've learned this month.

29 June 2014

So I am back with my monthly round up of wisdom I have gained this month. It’s been a good month overall – certainly looks like a better half of the year is about to come my way. So without further ado…

1 – I’ve learned to let go of things. I cannot control everything so I breathe and remind myself of that, and suddenly I feel much lighter. What other people do (or don't do) isn't something I can help. Who’d have thought it eh me not stressing?! P.S The block button on WhatApp has helped a lot with this.
2 – I am my own best friend. Nobody knows me like I know me. I haven’t learned this through any let down, so do not fear I am not on some bitter rampage, but just through interactions with people when it comes to what I want. I just mean when you have to do things, be it a driving lesson, social situations or interviews, you only have you, so you better damn well be nice to yourself and get through it.
3 – Following on from that I’ve learned how important self confidence is. I’m taking baby steps but I’m getting there.
4 – I am loving bronzer this month. It’s my new thing; I’m just about that glow!
5 – Changing my pillow case is super super important. Bacteria is not cute.
6 – I’m good at things! I passed my driving test (first time) this month. Hurrah no more throwing money at my instructor anymore!
7 – I have come leaps and bounds this month – after a couple of interviews this month and just daily interaction with people I have noticed I have come a long way with this social anxiety thing.
8 – Elementary (the TV show) is my new love.
9 – HTML! I am learning little bits here and there and I am loving it!
10 – Five Guys is overrated.

So there you have it, 10 obviously useful things I have learned this month. I know July will bring a huge bunch of lessons, but the thing is I’m sure it will also bring a huge wishlist. So we’ll see which one wins next month!

 Have a lovely Sunday!

Book Review: The List

22 June 2014

"I made it clear that if anyone puts thirty-three candles on my cake, I'll blow them out using spit.

"At the moment I'm so angry with him I want to violently pluck out my own eyelashes."

Title: The List: My Year of Sexual Adventures
Author: Joanna Bolouri
Genre: Fiction, Chick - Lit
Page Numbers/Length: 400 pages
Publisher: Quercus
Publish Date: 5th December 2013
Format: Kindle

So what’s it about?

Phoebe Henderson may be single but she sure doesn't feel fabulous. It's been a year since she found her boyfriend Alex in bed with another woman, and multiple cases of wine and extensive relationship analysis with best friend Lucy have done nothing to help. Faced with a new year but no new love, Phoebe concocts a different kind of resolution. The List: ten things she's always wanted to do in bed but has never had the chance (or the courage!) to try. A bucket list for between the sheets. One year of pleasure, no strings attached. Simple, right? Factor in meddlesome colleagues, friends with benefits, getting frisky al fresco and maybe, possibly, true love and Phoebe's got her work cut out for her.

(nabbed from Amazon.com)

"OH, STOP WITH ALL THE QUESTIONS! Why don't you all just put me in an orange jumpsuit and shine a light in my eyes!"
My thoughts

This book had me laughing at loud (LOL - I couldn't resist) so I just had to review it. I actually read it again whilst writing this review – that’s why it’s taken me an age to get it up. For those of you looking for a light hearted read to save you from the realities of being a singleton - this is your book! Bolouri has such a great sense of humour and she displays that in every single character and she will have you in stitches!

"Do you know what happens when you spend so much time having/thinking/writing abut sex? Your fish dies, that's what...Is this how serial killers start?"
Phoebe is our main character and we join her in the New Year when she decides she wants to create more than a bunch of useless resolutions. So instead she compiles a list of 10 sexual things she would love to try. She enlists one of her best friends (a guy) and goes about her mission to complete her deeds and we are taken along in this journal style story.

What I love about this book is how detailed it is, not so detailed that you’re on the verge of erotica, but just enough that you know the author knows what she’s talking about and isn’t trying to shock you naming outrageous sex fantasies. We come across internet dating and some hilarious and disappointing dates at which we can only laugh at. Of course during this book Phoebe learns a lot about herself and her past relationships and we see her start to make better choices for herself.

This book does end with the whole ‘hewasrightthereinfrontofyou’ stuff but it is incredibly funny and well thought out in between. I would definitely recommend this to everyone – it is a complete gem.
"Shut up, I'm a catch. I can play backgammon and I have 100% positive feedback on eBay. These are important qualities."

A room in a day.

8 June 2014

This week has just been busy and soaked in strange feelings. Despite that, today I am showing the updates of my room that mainly happened today - I’m so excited with how it’s turning out. I am taking my time so it's a slow process but I'm loving the project. That and I am lazy. I’d rather sleep on my pile of clothes than sort them out...

1.
There was never a chance that I was going to keep this thing uncluttered...

2.
Tumblr inspired DIY (well hammering a nail into a wall) - I can hang outfits up for inspiration now.

3.
I picked up this piece about two/three years ago in Milan and now I can finally hang it up – inspiration every day.

4.
SO MANY clothes. My friend said his mum would kill him if that was his room. My mum is back tomorrow and I’m sure she will do just that.

5.
Temporary book storage.

6.
I got these lights from Poundland at Christmas and they are still going strong! I added quotes near my dressing table because what better place to put them eh?!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Sunday - it's been so beautiful!

YouTuber Crush Alert!

5 June 2014

So I have a new crush. This developed about two hours ago and here I am posting about it. But she’s a beaut and her style is on point. I’ve now watched all of her YouTube videos (there are 17 okay and they are not very long) and I’m in love love love. Anyway let me show you what I’m talking about, rather than yap on. I think perhaps now I need to be doing another favourite YouTubers soon, but not too soon as I haven’t really got that many new favourites.

Name: Hannah
YouTube:  Cocobeautea

I'd recommend watching her  Casual Chic Lookook
. I love how creative she was with the names in this lookbook and the editing and style is fantastic.
Following that her Style Diaries – Number 1 & Number 2. The editing and style are both again, amazing.

She be killin’ it. Go take a look you won't be disappointed.

P.S  I have posts lined up for my blog, but have so much to do so may take some time to actual get them up. I hope everyone has a good evening!
