Exploring the UK: One night at Hotel Du Vin, York

9 October 2017

As promised in my last post I wanted to talk about where I stayed whilst I was in York. We ended up choosing Hotel Du Vin, which is a chain of hotels, because I fell in love with the mezzanine double room. It had the bed and toilet on one floor and the bathroom with a shower on another. It was adorable and I fell in love with the roll top bath as expected so we decided this would be our choice of lodging for our time in York.

We arrived in York around lunchtime and check-in wasn’t until 3pm but they took our bags and dropped them in our room so they were in the room when we came back. The room had such a luxurious feel to it and I instantly dived into the massive bed!

After snapping away and realising I had the wrong settings on my camera (still getting used to this shit) and having to take photos all over again, I settled into the massive bed and even though I wasn’t trying to I totally fell asleep! It was lush and the bed was so soft that I felt a bit like a marshmallow. I decided it was time for a bath and I was so happy to see they had REN products everywhere! So, armed with a glass of prosecco and some REN products I sat in utter bliss. It was so lovely to relax and listen to music and obviously dream of the day when I’ll have a bath like this in my house! After much daydreaming I snuggled into the bathrobe and slippers they had kindly given us and got myself ready for dinner. I totally wish we had stayed one more night because it was just a blissful experience. The room is the perfect size for two and the divide of an upstairs and downstairs really makes it feel bigger.

The room facilities included: a luxurious handsprung mattresses, fine Egyptian linen, deep baths and powerful drench showers with luxurious Ren toiletries, plasma TVs, air conditioning, and Nespresso coffee machine.

The hotel itself was also super impressive! They had a lovely dining room, a wine room (pictured below), a cigar shack (also pictured below) and loads of other bits! If we stayed for more than one night I would have explored the hotel and its facilities more.

Safe to say this stay was a wonderful treat and I can wholeheartedly recommend Hotel Du Vin, York.
