I have been wanting to get this post out forever, but my laptop was just NOT co-operating. I had already written the post, but could not for the life of me upload my photos, but finally it's here and just in time for the end of March!
I have been shopping so much this month and I don't even know why. Considering I finished my job at the end of Feb, and didn't get a new one until literally just the beginning of March (hurrah for me), I have no idea why I thought it would be a good idea to spend money. I think I was just feeling the freedom too much, nevertheless I managed to pick up some make-up items, clothes and jewellery. Some bits are repurchases (like my beloved Smashbox Halo foundation) so I haven't included them because they are new y'know?

Ahhha another empties post. I always say these are my favourite posts to read and write because only then do you really get to talk about you feel about a product. So I've stashed away another products that I've used up and I decided it was time to get talking about and throw them out!
Coconut Oil - How to (or a little bit of an ode to you)
21 April 2014 • beauty, coconut oil, hair talk
You would have to be living underneath a rock if you haven’t noticed the new obsession with coconut oil. It is everywhere and the uses seem to be endless.
Not going to lie I thought it was good for hair and that is why I bought it but over the past month I have seen posts about coconut oil that have made me go “really?!”. So here is my little find on the many uses of coconut oil.
1. Hair – As I mentioned before I bought coconut oil for my hair. Since decided I want longish and healthy hair I’ve done my research into my hair type and things to keep it growing and coconut oil is one of the staples I need. It’s suitable for all hair types, not just my coily kinky hair :( I purchased this one just because it was highly recommended for hair and other uses (cooking).
2. Frying – You can fry with coconut oil. I’m sure you already knew this but I had to throw it in here. I am yet to try frying with coconut oil only because since I’ve purchased mine I haven’t actually fried anything!
3. Body moisturiser – I once did a post about my foot care routine (yes really) and it featured coconut oil because it’s bloody amazing. It sinks into the skin and smells amazing! I also use my Nature’s Way oil as a moisturiser every now and then, I do it mainly for the smell, as I have other things I used to cream my body, but I love how soft it leaves my skin feeling.
4. Lip care – This one should be a no brainer! Swap your Vaseline (or whatever you use) for some coconut oil (or mix it together) and you will have smoother lips. I’ve tried this - I vouch for it!
5. Oil Pulling – Now this is a new one. If you’re like me you would have seen the word ‘pulling’ and thought ‘what torture does this involve?!’ But no it involves no such medieval instrument! Oil pulling is simply swishing a teaspoon of coconut oil in your mouth for 20minutes. Why? Simply to get rid of toxins in your mouth, the oil helps to ‘pull’ the dirt from your mouth. Semplice. I read about this on FashionLush’s blog, so go read here and here for more details because she explains it much better than me! I have tried this and the first time I did manage 20minutes, all the other times? Nah. I am also really inconsistent with it, so I can’t give any feedback just yet!
6. Deodorant – Yes. Yes, you read correctly. I cannot say I have tried this because, simply put, I like the idea of deodorant okay! Anna from VDM had a brief snippet about it and I was like really? This coconut oil thing has gone way out there. That’s what inspired me to share the coconut oil love with you all. But hey can’t knock it if it works right?
7. Bites, cuts & bruises – Of course there is a lot of science regarding the benefits of coconut oil, but to keep it short and sweet – it can fight off bacteria and acts as a nice healer. So when you find yourself with any of those nasties above you can reach for this natural remedy. Too bad it can't cure my ankle after a Saturday night injury eh?
So there you have 7 uses from one product! I’m sure there are tons more that I haven’t come across but 7 for now is good, infact it’s great! Before I leave you, visit here for some more facts about coconut oil, I find it so interesting but I’m also sceptical. But hey I’m not eating it and it is natural so I figure they can’t tell it causes x, y, z diseases in the future right?!
Remington Style Works Wand Kit
6 February 2014 • hair talk, hair tools
When I was in my teens I loved straight hair, like dead straight hair. I just couldn't get enough of it. Probably about 4 years ago I started to realise actually it wasn't so great, it was just plain boring. So now I like waves or loose curls. I've had wavy weaves or just had straight ones and curled them myself. Basically I just feel like hair has to have something to it, although realistically on most days I run a brush through my hair and leave it at that.
So before Christmas I purchased the Remington Style Works Wand Kit
I had others in my basket, but in the end I actually just went for this because everything was purple and it came with the extra bits! Seriously I get so stressed out when it comes to comparing things and choosing what I think is best.
So we have:
1 curling wand
1 paddle brush
2 clips
1 heat protect glove
1 compact mirror
In all honesty, I'm really happy with my purchase. I am by no mean a pro when it comes to hair (like I said before brush and go) or tools but of course this was easy to use and I got the curls I wanted.
Here was the result when I first tried it, I actually rushed it because I had somewhere to be, but this is it without brushing it out:
I have tried it other times but to be honest I forgot to take better pictures of the curls, but here are some.
Anyway I'm really happy with the curling wand, when I am bothered to do my hair, I love using it. So I'm glad I finally have a curling wand in my possession. For the price it's great and it does what it's supposed to do.
My main problem though, is finding something to hold the curl; I currently use VO5 Strong Hold Weather Resistant Hairspray, which couldn't be far from the truth. Even when I'm at home the curls drop. I sprayed this in for a night out on New Years and possibly an hour and half later, my curls dropped! Does anyone have any good recommendations for holding sprays?
why'd you say hallelujah if it means nothing to ya?
3 February 2011 • food, hair talk
I haven't a valid reason as to why I haven't been blogging. I guess I've been cooking and eating and attending my lectures. But even that doesn't take up a lot of time. Truth be told I've just started watching House and I'm loving it that I sit in bed pretty much all the time and watch it. That and I started on my essay today, only another 2,000 words to go.
Do you want to see what I've been cooking?
The two top pictures are mozzarella, tomato and gnnochi bake.
left and bottom right is spinach and ricotta roll-ups and above the bottom right we have caramelised onions and mushrooms with sausage and mash and parsley and basil.
Pre essay procrastination. I don't know about my looks recently but here I am.
I'm going to London on Friday and I'm getting my hair done on Monday, still sticking with the black as it's practical for interviews.
sunday lovin'

hair colour is always a weird thing for me. I love having different coloured weave, whatever colour I have my hair I always enjoy having that colour, that is until I look at old pictures and think "oh, I wish my hair was red/brown/blue/purple" etc. I can't be the only one that does this right? Before summer of 2010 my hair had never been black (it was infact ginger before then, not intended though), I decided I wanted a stage were I was "normal" so I got black hair and I loved it and I still do, it's just everytime I see my hair in old pictures I suddenly want it all back again. Black is a colour that suits me though, it suits my complexion as well and I can wear pratically anything.
Above is a picture of my red and black hair. Also a little bit of an outfit you can see. I don't know if anyone really knows much about me but I do like to go out and get drunk and I'm drunk in this photo, I'm hiding my face for other reasons though. Drinking not my favourite thing in the world, so I don't do it all the time, I know I'm at uni and that's what students are meant to do but if I'm honest being drunk isn't all that much fun. So that's something about me.
Another thing about me is I'm meant to be asleep right now! Alas I am too obessed with criminal minds and as I've been revising all day now is the only time I've had to watch it. I'm rising early tomorrow as I have a Tesco delivery coming, it's saddens me that this is the one thing taking my sleep away from me. It shall bring me food nevertheless and then I'll have a wonderful day at the library....I'll get more interesting after the 20th.
Night!
hello gloomy monday.
9 August 2010 • hair talk, shopping, shopping ban, tattoo
my shopping ban is technically over! I threw away two bags of clothes last week!
And I still have shit loads of stuff.
Before I go back to uni I'll have to do another clear out. But yay, I want to buy boots because mine are fucked! I haven't even entered a clothes shop in about a month! I lack money too but get paid on friday, whoop. I've got bills to pay sadly, need to get my hair done, then tattoo and then shoesss! You see how quickly my money goes...I need to work more!
But no, still sticking with my ban.
hair, oh, hair.

sunday
so I tried to do my hair like I wanted and it failed. It's official I can't curl my hair properly. My friend always does it really good for me but she's in London! I think my hair only came out how I wanted once and even then the curls fell out. I need to use a better hairspray.
i've been having problems updating my blog. that and i'm a slacker.
improvements to my life have been made though. i went to three lectures this week, okay i left half way through one but still. I finally collected my essay and I got 60% which is a 2:1 and everyone else did really badly on it so yaay. Finished my spanish work. Had Christmas dinner on Wednesday, was so lovely. And my friend, he got me a chocolate fountain! :D
Tonight is my final night out in Birmingham and I'm actually just staying on campus. I'm going back to London for 3 weeks :D It's been a good week, partied on monday, partied last night and it was finally in a different club and good old times in the guild with cheap drinks :D
1st December - World Aids Day
1 December 2009 • hair talk, my life, outfits, ramblings, town: london, uni: aston
The 1st of december, already?! Also world aids day, my uni didn't do anything for it that I'm aware of! :(
I'm back in better spirits, I went back to London for the weekend and lets just say living by myself is a lot better than living with my family! Been hard at work these past two days doing work that I've put off for a month, so I feel a lot more focused.
