The Body Shop & Boots Botanics Product Review

Sunday, 23 March 2014

So today I bring to you three products, two from The Body Shop and one from Boots. I bought these three about 2-3 months ago, so they have been well tested.

First up is the Boots ‘Botanics Purifying Face Scrub All Bright’, I purchased this because it was half price (or something like that) and I really wanted a gentle exfoliater for my face. This is scrub is suitable for all skin types so I thought ‘hey why not give it a try’. I don’t really have anything much to say about this product because for me personally I didn’t see any benefits. Thankfully it didn’t cause me to breakout or do any damage to my skin, but I personally didn’t feel any brightening affects. Aside from that I really was a great gentle exfoliater and after using it my skin felt clean but not stripped, which is really important. But would I repurchase? No

Next is The Body Shop’s ‘Hemp Hand Protector’. As you can see from the picture it is well loved. Of course we all know about the benefits of hemp seed oil and this hand cream has been around for years. I bought one years ago, but after finding that my hands were getting really dry from work I decided to invest in it again. I like it. I wouldn’t say I love it but it does the job. To be honest it leaves this coating on after you’ve applied it which annoys me, but it does soon enough sink in. Thing is, like I said, it does the job and what more could I possible want?  For now I am not repurchasing as I have an Avon handcream to try, but I have really enjoyed using it.

The star of this show is my final purchase which is The Body Shop’s ‘Seaweed Deep Cleansing Facial Wash’. I picked this up when I was buying the hand cream because when I got to the till the lady told me about some half price offer or something (they always seem to do that at The Body Shop). This had me frantically looking in the skincare section for something to try. This wash is made for combination/oily skin which is me me me. So I picked this up wanting to try it but not expecting anything great. I don’t know about you guys but I’m a sceptic when it comes to anything, I don’t expect to work for me. But within a week I was noticing less oil on my t-zone at the end of the day. On a day-to-day basis I do not wear foundation, so this was tested on my bare face, so I don’t know how well it would work if you’re slapping foundation every day. I don’t use this wash every day, more like 2-3 times a week, as I vary my skin care routine depending on what my skin needs. You can see I've still got a bit left and I bought this at the same time as the hand cream (which was about a month and a half ago) but obviously daily use vs every other day use diminishes the product quicker. But a definite thumbs up for this product, I will certainly be going back to try more from this collection, even if is you know seaweed, if it works I am not one to knock it!
