The Body Shop Vitamin C Energising Face Mist

If there’s one thing I’m always searching for in a skincare product, it is the ability to inject some life into my skin. I want all the brightness because I just feel like my skin is dull and lacklustre. To tackle this issue, I decided to pick up The Body Shop’s Vitamin C Energising Face Mist.

Urban Decay De-Slick Review

15 May 2015

I don't think I have that much of an issue with my make-up staying on my face, if I leave it untouched. It more to do with the fact that, I'm either swiping away at my face forgetting that I'd gotten up early AND sacrificed sleep to put make-up on,  or blowing my nose so much because hay fever wants to ruin my life. Aside from that my make-up sort of seems to stay put. However, I want more. I want it to be guaranteed that my hard work in the morning is going to stay put. And because quite frankly I'm bloody tired of looking into my mirror and seeing oil everywhere like I haven't washed my face in days.

So I've stepped it up a notch, I've decided to set my make-up into my face so that it doesn't budge. At first I looked into powders but then I remembered setting sprays. I’ve heard the term setting spray thrown around in blogs and YouTube videos, specifically Urban Decay’s De-Slick and All Nighter. So I headed there first. I thought about getting the All Nighter but in the end decided to pick something was catered for my skin type.

UD state: Meet your most powerful oil-control ally. Urban Decay's De-Slick Makeup Setting Spray mists on weightlessly to help prevent makeup meltdown as it controls oil, deflects surface shine and keeps skin looking beautifully matte. High-tech formula helps keep foundation, shadow and blush from smudging, sliding or fading—so you hardly ever need to touch up. Your makeup will look just-applied for hours (even if it’s not). I bloody agree with them, I don’t know what magic they have put in here but it’s amazing. I tweeted about this and a friend responded saying she loved it but it broke her out after a while. I’m really hoping this does not happen to me. I’ve bought the travel size version because I just wanted to trial it, and well I kinda like the dinky size it is great for you know travelling.

I BLOODY LOVE THIS STUFF. I’ve worn it about 7 times and I’ve just seen amazing results with it everytime time. I don’t wear foundation every day, so I’ve only used this on days when I’ve wanted my make-up, which also means not wanting oil to show through so easily. So for me this has been a saving grace. I’ve always looked into the mirror expecting to see oil everywhere but with this product I do not look like an oily mess. I barely have to powder when I have this one. If I do I’m powdering like 8 hours later.

I spritz this stuff on in the morning after I’ve powdered, added blush and done my mascara. It is the last step in my routine and then I’m off to work. I would recommend this to all my oily skinned ladies! For other skin types perhaps All Nighter would be great.

So good points:
- Controls oil
- Keeps make-up in place
- Kinda price friendly

Are there any setting sprays that you swear by? Are there any Urban Decay products that you swear by too? I'm really excited to try more by them.

Secret Santa Gifts + Mini Khroma Khole Kardashian's Kardazzle Face Palette Review.

11 January 2015

So this is long overdue but I really wanted to show the gifts I got in my Secret Santa Swap, even thought I filmed it (my YouTube debut lol) I wanted to show one of the products I have been loving. Seriously I want to just take it everywhere with me. Especially because I am loving one of the products so so much!

So I won't dither on about the SS because Christmas come and gone. But I received these gifts and so happy with them all. I am yet to wear the earrings, but have been loving the bracelet. I was super excited about the Rimmel Apocalips however this shade does not suit me at all. Which is a shame because the formula is great! The star of the show for me was the Khroma - Khloe Kardashian's Kardazzle Face Palette. I was so intrigued by this because I honestly don't pay a lot of attention to anything the Kardashians bring out, and I think I've only ever see one blogger I follow review it (The Sunday Girl). However when I opened this up I was so happy. Plus Khole is my favourite Kardashian!

(with flash)

How beautiful are the colours?! I also love how compact the whole thing is, it's so easy for travel (like I even go anywhere) and I think this has such a fantastic range of colours in terms of eyeshadow. It could have done with a darker matte shade, but if I'm perfectly honest I haven't even touched the matte shades. I just love love the shimmery ones. I thought the formula would be meh, but this is so pigmented and I am beyond impressed! My favourite shades have to be the two shimmery shades on the bottom left. I tried my luck at applying these along with some of the dark mattes in theBalm Nude 'Tude Eyeshadow Palette and it actually looked good (I'm terrible at applying eyeshadow).

I also love how this came with a blush, highlighter and bronzer. Obviously Khloe is much lighter than me so I don't think I can use those as they are supposed to be used. I did try out the blush and I thought it looked okay. Overall I'm just super happy with the eyeshadows especially the shimmer ones. I love how travel friendly this is and how it lends itself to creating various looks.

I'm not sure of places that physically stock the Kardashian products but Feel Unique and Look Fantastic are listed as official stockist. However I cannot find the palette on either of their sites.
I have a vague memory of them selling it in Dorothy Perkins but perhaps I've mistaken that for their clothes. Either way my Secret Santa managed it and I am eternally grateful!

Do you have any compact palettes that you love?

Mini Boots Haul.

3 September 2014

So I went online and had a bit of a snoop on Boots about a week or two ago and ended up with these three bits.

So I really needed a new face wash, since The Body Shop in Camden closed down yonks ago I’ve been really lazy about getting my Seaweed Cleansing Facial Wash (although it is really good, I rave about it here). I’ve heard about Biore from their pore strips and although I’ve never tried them I was intrigued by the brand. They seem to focus on blackheads a lot and I’m obsessed with getting rid of mine! I looked through their range of daily face washes and finally settled on this. I’ve been using it for the past week and I can’t fault it. The consistency is quite thick – it’s almost like a face mask rather than a cleanser. It warms up as the name suggests and then you just wash it away. I have indeed noticed that my blackheads are much less visible and I do think it is because of this face wash.

The next thing I got was this mask. I already have a clay mask so I wanted something that would focus on radiance. I’ve heard good things about Good Things (see what I did there, it wasn’t even intentional) and it was 1/3 off so I decided to snap that up quickly! I’ve only actually used it once since I got it last week; I’ve had far too many late nights to bother with face masks, so I can’t give a verdict on this yet. It does smell super super good though and I really like the fact that it has white clay in it – drawing out impurities, all day, every day

So this was my final purchase. I really need a new moisturiser and I was pretty much happy to spend anything on it. So I’m browsing as you do, and stumble across a Yes To Carrot moisturiser or something and I’m like interesting. So click onto the brand and find the products targeted at my skin type and it is the Yes To Tomatoes range and guys, I can’t deal, I hate tomatoes and don’t want my face smell of them. But further scrolling down sees they have products for uneven skin tones, which is me all over. So me wanting to try something new, AND finding something that is supposed to help the appearance of dark spots, resulted in this purchase.

So after that long ramble what I have to say so far is I haven’t seen any changes, but I’ve been using it for a week. I’m certainly going to take pictures so I can compare my skin now to when I’m finished, as I feel with these things you might miss them when you’re hoping for a miraculous change. The one thing I do not like about this product though is the white cast it leaves on my face. It has a consistency like sun cream and leaves the white cast like sun cream, so I am not pleased. I also keep squirting too much out of the pump, which is super annoying. I’ve just gone back on Boots to link these and it’s been slashed down by a 1/3 – oh what a cruel world.

So that is it for my skin haul, I’m sure I shall be back with a full review once I have used them all up! If you have any recommendations for oily and uneven skin I would love love love to hear them!

Sleek Matte Me in Fandango Purple

18 August 2014

I’ve had this beauty for a while and I absolutely love it. I remember wearing it a lot during September/October last year and then I forgot about it! I first heard about it from Sian, during this video and I was like that looks lovely and most likely ran out to purchase it that very week!

I absolutely love the colour, I find it’s quite summery but also something you can wear all year round when you feel like throwing in that punch of colour! I dunno what the name is about but it’s fun to say! I find that it isn’t too pink or purple, it is just a really wearable colour. I also love that it actually suits my dark skin tone (at least I think it does). It’s also a shade that is wearable day or night. I typically wear this in the day and really enjoy adding the pop of colour to my face.

So lets talk application? It applies pretty well, you do need to build it up otherwise it doesn’t deliver the colour in the bottle (container? I have no idea what to call this). Just about three swipes and you have yourself about 4 hours worth of colour. I wore this to work last week and it was still around even after eating my lunch.

The formula itself quite creamy and pigmented and when you spread it out it loses colour and creaminess. I am a klutz so most of this ends up on my teeth, although I don’t understand how! As the name states this is matte and man I don’t try out a lot of lipglosses/lipsticks but this is maaaaaaatte beyond the meaning. It will seep into the lines on your lips after a while, so I recommend applying a lip balm before and/or after. That’s the only downside of this product, but for me it’s not too bad as long as I reapply when I see this happening. For me I although it’s super drying I like that it stays put and I don’t have to worry about constantly reapplying. You've also got the added benefit of the price being super affordable!

I haven’t been drawn towards purchasing more simply because I’m a lazy gal – but after fishing it out I will have to go have a browse around the Sleek section to see what other colours will catch my eye!

MAC Heroine Review

28 July 2014

So on abut two weeks ago I made my first MAC lipstick purchase. I’ve never actually been drawn to purchase one, but when a friend mentioned she wanted one for her birthday, I saw it as an opportunity to get myself one (duh). Instead of picking a nice muted shade I opted for 'Heroine.' I swatched it when my friend and I went to Selfridges to make our own magnums (so frikkin good) and fell in love. I originally wanted to try out 'Pure Heroine' from Lorde's collection because it’s a deep deep purple and darker shades are my thing, but it wasn’t there. Instead I was drawn to this beauty and once I had swatched this, tried it on and got my friends opinion, I was sold. I actually remember reading about Heroine being a permanent shade a while back, but it never caught my eye or anything when that was happening.

Heroine is a matte purple lipstick, I’m not even going to try and write about blue tones or what not because I know nothing about that It’s described as a bright purple lipstick, but it’s not that bright which is what makes it work. None of my pictures seemed to do it justice, but hey I tried! I could go on all day about the colour but I mean you can see it is a fantastic shade of purple and for me purple can do no wrong. Purple is also my favourite colour so for me this gem is all round certified goodness.

I wore it out on a Saturday night and I was so happy with the colour and staying power! As I mentioned before the finish is matte, but it is still hydrating and doesn’t seep into lines. The pigmentation of this is incredible, what you see is what you get on your lips. The staying power on this is ridiculously good – it last all night and survived my cleansing oil; albeit it was faded it was still there.

I could rave all day about the lipsticks but I’m sure none of you are as late as me when it comes to MAC lipsticks, so you’ll know how great the formula is. As for me I know I’ll definitely pick up another lipstick soon, but right now I don’t have any particular shade in mind but it won’t take me long!

What are your favourite lipsticks from MAC?
